Check out this application, which is located within the site of the National Institute of Educational Technology and Teacher Education:

Used by educators all over the world, Voxopop is a tool that enables you to create online recorded discussions which you can set up easily and which your learners can access easily and use in ways to really maximise spoken English practice. It is a free online discussion site.

The site allows to create called "talk groups", communities of real people discussing various topics using their real voices. Anyone can create a talkg roup, These talk-groups can be public, restricted or entirely private, which is ideal for classrooms. Anyone can explore and listen to public discussions, but only signed up users can start or join talk groups, or join in on discussions. You'll also get access to other features, like being able to add discussions to a watch list, and being notified by when others contribute.

Woodlands web was started as a hobby by Mandy Barrow, an English Teacher, who knew little about computers and designing a website. Over the years her knowledge of web designing has grown alongside our ever growing website still run by Mandy. The Woodlands Junior website reflects Mandy's interests. She is especially keen on keeping British culture and history alive.

And, of course, we can use lots of interactive activities in our ESL lessons!

My partners...
These are the blogs of some of my companions, in this adventure of teaching English:

From the point of view of the teacher ICT offers a huge amount of material to work in class: grammar or vocabulary exercises, interviews, articles, films, cartoons, pictures to motivate conversation, etc. Teachers can be in touch with colleagues to support themselves, share experiences… In short, to break the loneliness that sometimes the teacher has.
For the pupils, ICT provides information about all kind of themes for their projects, possibility of chats, communication in general, interactive games (or other free software), songs, etc.
During lots of years the only tools the teachers could use were books, dictionaries… in general printed materials. ICT has opened to teachers an incredible `window´ to the world. With them teachers can improve their teaching, their classes can be more dynamic and diverse, more motivating. They can also recycle themselves to be up to date.
For children, as they are immersed in the technological world, ICT are easy, natural and motivating for them. They can work by themselves (although ICT will never replace the work of teachers, the communication between classmates and with the teacher). Using these technologies children can be in contact with `real English´ watching videos, listening to music, etc.

Hello everyone! I´m a PE and Primary teacher, and I´ve got 4 years of Pedadogy. I have worked as a home teacher for five years. My pupils can be from eight to thirteen years old. As you can imagine, the amount of material I need to improve my pupils´ English is huge. I use the web to find exercises, tests, pictures (for descriptions...), comics (for translation)... At this moment I´m working in a school too. I want to share with you my opinion and ideas on using technology in the ESL class.
